Badge of approval will help buyers choose electric cars

Car dealerships that give good advice on electric vehicles will receive government approval under a plan to drive up sales and reduce air pollution.
The electric vehicle dealer accreditation scheme, launched today, is aimed at increasing confidence among buyers by cracking down on poor guidance and sharp practice among salespeople.
The Department for Transport said the scheme, under which dealerships that pass independent audits can advertise as “electric vehicle approved”, would help to deliver the government’s commitment to end the sale of new diesel and petrol cars and vans by 2040.
The Times Clean Air for All campaign is calling on the government to raise its ambition by banning sales by 2030.
