BHEL sets up solar EV charging station at Karnal

New Delhi : Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) on Thursday said it has set up a solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging station at Karnal, Haryana.
According to the company press release, the EV charging station at Karna lake resort is located at the midpoint of Delhi-Chandigarh highway and is equipped to cater to all types of electric cars available in the country.
“The Delhi-Chandigarh highway has become the first EV-friendly highway in the country, with a network of solar-based EV charging stations set up under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid) & Electric Vehicles in India scheme of the Ministry of Heavy Industries,” added the release.
The EV stations are equipped with individual grid-connected rooftop solar plants that will supply green and clean energy to the charging stations.
The release added that the setting up of similar EV chargers at regular intervals of 25-30 kilometres on the highway will allay range-anxiety among EV users and bolster their confidence for inter-city travel.
