Brazil’s power sector regulator Aneel approved on Tuesday the remaining winning projects from the A-5 tender held on October 14, 2022, for a combined solar capacity of 100 MW.
The approvals were granted to the Janauba projects each with a capacity of 50 MW.
A-5 awarded around 557.5 MW of wind, solar, hydro, biomass-based power and waste-to-energy schemes. Among the winners, solar energy had a major share with 200 MW across four projects.
Aneel pointed out that the awarded schemes represent around BRL 2.9 billion (USD 560.60m/EUR 517.11m) in future investments.
Under the terms of the auction, wind and solar secured power purchase agreements (PPAs) with a 15-year term, while the other sources have a 20-year period.
Power supply is set to start on January 1, 2027.
