SAN FRANCISCO: Celebrate Drive Electric Earth Day by taking an electric vehicle or two out for a free spin and learn about the many benefits of gas-free transportation on Saturday, April 28, 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at City College of San Francisco. Presented by The Golden Gate Electric Vehicle Association (GGEVA), the event offers free test drives of a wide selection of cars and busts myths about electric vehicles (EVs). Drivers can experience firsthand how these beautiful cars quickly accelerate and respond.
EVs are budget-friendly, practically maintenance-free, eliminate expensive trips to the gas station, are quiet and non-polluting and come with an abundance of financial incentives. Experienced electric car drivers at the information booth will provide details about replacing gas vehicles with zippy electric transportation.
“If you are thinking about replacing an existing car, are curious about what driving an EV is like, want to see the latest and greatest technology or want to learn from the experiences of longtime EV owners, this event provides that opportunity in a zero-pressure environment,” says Jennifer Heggie, event chair. “This is an opportunity to experience just how easy EVs are to use and how much fun they are to ride in or drive. You can test drive a variety of EVs, talk with representatives of organizations about EV charging and learn the most up-to-date information on available discounts and rebates.
There are a variety of EV models from two passenger cars to seven passenger SUVs, all with the highest safety ratings. EVs can travel up to 335 miles on a single charge; the cost of charging is three cents per mile and thousands of charging locations make road trips easy. EVs start at $23,900 and never need increasingly expensive gas station fill-ups, oil change, smog check, spark plugs, fuel pumps or starters.
