Centre to sanction more solar pump sets for AP
VIJAYAWADA: Impressed by the performance of Andhra Pradesh in renewable energy sector and successful implementation of solar pump sets programme, the Central Government has assured to sanction additional solar pump sets anywhere between 15,000 and 30,000 to the State.In a two-hour long interaction with Energy Minister Kala Venkata Rao on Saturday, Union Minister of State for Power R K Singh assured full support to the State with regard to viability gap funding for energy storage and setting up of energy university.
Singh also informed Kala Venkata Rao and Energy Department officials including principal secretary (energy) Ajay Jain that the Central Government has decided to showcase the success story of Andhra Pradesh in power sector to other States and suggested the State government to prepare special report for the purpose.
He was all praise for the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s vision with regard to energy sector. Kala Venkata Rao informed Singh that the Chief Minister has resolved not to increase the power tariff for next fiscal. Principal Secretary Ajay Jain gave a detailed presentation over the achievements of the State in power sector on the occasion. He said the State government is also contemplating to introduce solar powered electric vehicles in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati.
