College gets ₹ 1 crore to promote research
The Union Department of Science and Technology has sanctioned ₹1 crore to Kongu Engineering College for Improvement of S and T Infrastructure in Universities and Higher Educational Institutions (FIST) scheme.
A press release from the college said that scientific community has expressed great concern about the lack of infrastructure facilities for imparting good quality of higher education and conducting research in emerging fields of science and engineering.
Hence, the grant under the scheme is for strengthening infrastructure of a particular department. To promote the research and development activities in Renewable Energy Sector, the fund was sanctioned to the college for five years. The release said that the expert committee meeting for the FIST proposal was held on November 1, 2017 and the Principal Investigator of the project S. Kuppuswami had presented the glimpses of the project.
Parameswari Lingamurthy, president, Kongu Vellalar Institute of Technology Trust, secretary P. Sathiyamoorthy, Treasurer E.R.K. Krishnan and the Correspondent of the college A. Venkatachalam congratulated the team for successful completion of the project.
