Conergy completes 201 MWp of solar projects in the Philippines
Conergy, a leading German photovoltaic (PV) solution and service provider, disclosed in 2015 that it had won 201 MWp of solar projects in the Philippines. Today, Conergy is proud to announce the culmination of these projects in various parts of the country, all 201 MWp were connected to the grid prior to the March 15 deadline set by the Department of Energy (DOE), a prerequisite for solar projects seeking to qualify for incentives under the current feed-in-tariff (FIT) scheme. Four solar projects in Luzon brought Conergy to the cusp of this milestone – 50 MWp in Tarlac, 13 MWp in Pampanga, 15 MWp in Bulacan and 18 MWp in Bataan. With the completion of four more solar power projects in Negros – 14 MWp in La Carlota, 48 MWp in Manapla, 18 MWp in Bais and 25 MWp in Silay, Conergy, together with its local partners, was able to add 201 MWp of clean electricity capacity to the grid, further strengthening its position as the leader of solar engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services in the Philippines.
For Conergy APAC President, Alexander Lenz, it is the company’s single-minded determination to fulfill their customer commitments and its consistent focus on quality, cost optimization and discipline in implementing best practice processes that has allowed them to achieve this success with their partners. “Conergy is well known for its emphasis on quality and reliability to offer the most complete and innovative solar services in the market. I am especially proud that our team has mastered the very challenging task of completing several large projects across the country concurrently in the race for the FIT. Our mission to power a greener Philippines is also at the heart of everything we do, and we are proud to have delivered ahead of schedule with the help of our partners who shared the same goal.” With the completion of these projects, Conergy now has executed a total of 274 MWp of solar capacity in the Philippines, equivalent to powering over 171,300 Filipino homes. This is equivalent to more than 50% of the current 500 MWp FIT quota for PV.
According to Conergy, Southeast Asia is an ideal location for solar energy because of year-round sunshine and abundance of space that is suitable for solar power infrastructure. The Philippines is currently its largest market in Asia, and it also has ongoing solar projects in Thailand and Indonesia.Hendrik Bohne, VP for EPC Asia adds, “Conergy is keenly aware that in regulated energy markets, solar energy can only be made available on a mass scale through the support of government and the investment and vision of energy providers. If this trend we see in the Philippines continues, the country will soon catch up with the rest of its regional neighbors in choosing to power with renewable energy. The benefits of solar are endless – and Conergy has all the resources to ensure that our customers can take full advantage of that, so that Filipino families will be able to power their homes with clean and reliable renewable energy.”
