Assignment Name : Consultancy Services for Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) of Floating Solar PV Project and its auxiliary structures (including floating / marine structures, transmission infrastructure, etc.) for a capacity of 600 MW in Kaveri Branch reservoir of Omkareshwar Dam, Madhya Pradesh, India.

Location : Madhya Pradesh, India

Client : Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL)-A JV Company of Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (MPUVN), and Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI)

Voyants Solutions Pvt. Ltd (VSPL) has been entrusted by RUMSL to undertake Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for the planned 600 MW Floating Solar PV Project and its auxiliary structures (including floating / marine structures, transmission infrastructure, etc.) in in Kaveri Branch reservoir of Omkareshwar Dam, Madhya Pradesh, India.

The Project is being funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB). Thus VSPL will carry out the ESIA in line with the Safeguard Policy Statement of ADB.

It is proposed that Solar Park has been divided into six units (A, B, C, D, E and F), each having a capacity of 100 MW. The generation from these units is proposed to be evacuated through 33 kV underwater cables and overhead transmission lines for pooling at the 33/220kV pooling substations. The generation from three units (A, B, C), aggregating to 300 MW shall be evacuated through 33 kV network (comprising of cables and overhead lines) to the 33/220kV pooling substation at Chitramod. Similarly, the power generated by the other three units (D, E, F) shall be evacuated through the 33 kV network to the 33/220 kV Saktapur substation. Double Circuit 33kV overhead conductors (total twelve numbers of double circuit 33kV overhead cables for evacuating 600 MW power have been proposed considering transformation capacity of more than 50 MW from each of the double circuit while using 210 sq. mm panther AAAC conductors).

After commissioning the Project will be World’s Largest floating solar power plant.

The estimated project cost of the project is INR 3000 crores.
