Creation of U.S. renewable fuel credits fell in September -EPA
U.S. generation of renewable fuel blending credits fell in September from the previous month, data from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) showed on Thursday. Some 1.23 billion renewable fuel (D6) blending credits were created last month, compared with 1.36 billion in August.
For biodiesel, 330.9 million credits were generated in September, versus 380.5 million the previous month, the data showed. The credits are used by oil refiners and importers to show compliance with EPA-mandated ethanol blending quotas for petroleum-based fuels. They are created with every gallon of biofuel produced.
