German auto major Daimler has increased the solar energy capacity at its Chennai plant to 3.3 MW that would address the “one-fourth of the average daytime power” need for the facility. “Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, the subsidiary of Daimler AG, has taken solar power usage at the manufacturing facility to next level. With the completion of a major addition to the existing photovoltaic installations, the overall technical capacity increased from 0.8MW to 3.3MW”, a company statement said. The new solar power field, consists of more than 10,000 new polycrystalline photovoltaic panels, it said.
