Amritsar: To promote the use of eco-friendly practices, the DAV College on Monday installed a solar power plant on its campus. The college aims to become self-reliant in its energy needs.
While inaugurating the plant Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar said, “The project has been executed under UGC’s grant. In the first stage of installation, a power plant of 5kWp photovoltaic grid system has been started under the Tata power solar plant.”
In the later stage, the college will extend its capacity to 20kWp. “This is a power grid system, where we directly put in the generated electricity to the power grids. The government’s initiative of clean energy and making the institution self-sufficient in energy needs have been fulfilled by the plant. It will help us in addressing our energy needs.” he added.
The installation was executed under the coordination of Prof JJ Mohindru, Prof Neeraj Gupta and Prof Puneet Sharma along with other faculty members.
