Delhi government has exempted battery-operated vehicles from paying registration fee to promote electric vehicles (EV) in the capital. The move comes within five days of the exemption of electric vehicles from road tax under the ambitious EV policy.
NEW DELHI : Delhi government has exempted battery-operated vehicles from paying registration fee to promote electric vehicles (EV) in the capital. The move comes within five days of the exemption of electric vehicles from road tax under the ambitious EV policy.
In a notification on Thursday, the registration fee prescribed in Rule 81 of Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 shall not be applicable on batteryoperated vehicles. Suggestions from the public were sought on October 10 on the exemption on the registration fee till Tuesday, but no objection and suggestion were received regarding the draft rules. The registration fee for vehicles in the capital ranges from 4% to 10% for petrol-run vehicles, according to its price.
