The Delhi government has started replacing its old fleet of vehicles with new-age electric vehicles. Several SUVs and Sedans used by ministers and bureaucrats during the Congress regime in Delhi are now being replaced. While the registration numbers of these VIP vehicles are retained, the cars are being auctioned to scrap dealers.

While there are over 1 crore vehicles in Delhi, the number of vehicles that had crossed their age was more than 35 lakh. Government has announced a comprehensive policy to scrap such vehicles and even empaneled scrap dealers for the exercise.
