Digitised zilla schools call for funds for solar panel
After digitising 1,103 zilla parishad schools in Dhule, Harsh Vibhandik, the man behind this transformation, has embarked on a new journey to install solar panels in the schools. Vibhandik is trying to crowd-source the funds for the noble cause.
“I was born in Dhule, and we were 12 family members living in a small room. My father was the only bread winner, who still works at a retail cloth shop as a salesman. After completing my school, I shifted to Mumbai for my chemical engineering degree,” Vibhandik told DNA. He then worked in Ahmedabad before leaving for the US to do his MBA.
Vibhandik was an investment banker in New York before he got inspired by a public address by PM Narendra Modi in the US, and decided to head back to his hometown and contribute towards its development. It was because of his relentless efforts and donations pouring in from all quarters, including the teachers and the villagers, every school in Dhule is now digitized.
Though his dream came true, but soon issues such as uninterrupted power supply and hefty power bills began to surface. That is when Vibhandik came up with his new project — solar power for the schools.
He said that 40 schools have already been provided with solar panel along with solar power backup and batteries.
However, he has a long way to go. He said he was reaching out to high net worth individuals and corporates for funds.
Vibhandik said that those interested in contributing for the cause could either send donations to Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini or donate online through donatecart.com/rmp/solarschool/#/
