Eaton Helps OEMs Reduce Size of Next Generation Power Conversion, Energy Storage Technology with 48 Percent Smaller Compact High Speed Fuses
Power management company Eaton introduces its Bussmann® series compact high speed fuses, which use up to 48 percent less enclosure space than standard high speed, round body fuses. Eaton’s compact technology is designed to support the reduction in the overall size of next generation power conversion and energy storage equipment, including drives, uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs), inverters and battery protection.
“As drives, semiconductors and other power conversion equipment become smarter and more complex, components need to be smaller, leaving more space for OEMs to include more intelligent controls,” said Kevin Calzada, product manager, Eaton. “Eaton’s Bussmann series compact high speed fuses are up to 48 percent smaller than standard industry designs, enabling customers to build smaller and smarter equipment.”
The portfolio of 50 to 400 ampere compact high speed fuses feature an innovative design that allows for a significantly smaller package without compromising heat rise performance. Additionally, the bolt-on design provides design flexibility for installation in fuse blocks or direct mounting on busbars.
Eaton’s Bussmann series compact high speed fuses provide short-circuit protection and are rated 500 volts alternating current/direct current. The fuses meet Underwriters Laboratories® (UL), Canadian Standards Association® (CSA) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards. The devices are also Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliant.
Eaton develops and manufactures Bussmann series fusible circuit protection, power management and electrical safety products designed to provide innovative overcurrent and overvoltage solutions. These products serve customers in the industrial, commercial, alternative energy and other markets, and in mission-critical applications.
