Eaton Highlights Energy Storage Solutions to Maximize Renewable Energy Harvest at 2016 Energy Storage Association Conference April 25 through 27
Power management company Eaton today announced it will highlight its energy storage solutions at the Energy Storage Association (ESA) 26th Annual Conference, from April 25 through 27 in booth #401 at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, N.C. During an educational session, Eaton will discuss how energy storage systems can support utilities, industrial and commercial customers, independent power producers and power system operators.
Eaton’s Chris Thompson, business unit manager, Grid Power, will help attendees understand how solar installations combined with energy storage can lessen curtailment, free charge batteries and generate value through new services. The presentation will take place on Tuesday, April 26, from 2-3:15 p.m. on the Expo Hall Stage.
“Energy storage is a key factor in helping address grid stability and peak demand challenges. As renewable energy sources continue to be integrated into the grid, energy storage technology can negate the need to build dedicated peaking power plants while reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” said Thompson. “Eaton has a long track record of working with its customers to automate and protect a secure, cost-effective electrical grid and looks forward to demonstrating our energy storage innovations at the ESA conference.”
At the conference, Eaton will showcase power conversion system (PCS) solutions for energy storage applications, including the latest in direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) switchgear, integrated monitoring, metering and control technology, and utility-scale energy storage inverters and transformers.
Eaton will also highlight its suite of services tailored for every stage of an energy storage system’s life cycle, from planning and design to build and support. The services are provided through Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services and Systems team, one of the industry’s largest field service organizations dedicated to supporting the reliability and uptime of renewable energy and storage installations. Eaton’s field engineers can complete turnkey installation of energy storage installations – providing comprehensive inspection and benchmarking of system components as well as advanced system inspection, maintenance and testing.
Products on display during the conference include Eaton’s Power Xpert® Storage grid-tie inverter — a central part of Eaton’s equipment portfolio for energy storage customers. It offers reliable high-performance power conversion for utility-scale grid-connected battery applications. High performance is realized with a wide end-of-charge to full-charge voltage window, which allows full battery storage potential to be achieved. Conservatively rated magnetics, liquid-cooled power modules and a rugged enclosure suitable for the toughest environments make the Power Xpert Storage among the most dependable energy storage grid-tie inverters on the market.
Eaton’s Power Xpert® Storage 1000 kilowatt (kW), 1500 kW, 2000 kW, and 2250 kW inverters offer some of the highest kW ratings in the utility-scale class. A reliable, efficient and fault-tolerant design minimizes the plant levelized cost of electricity, while meeting stringent grid requirements.
