EDF renewables unit steps up solar and wind projects in France
Couderc said the unit had a portfolio of around 1,000 MW of projects at various stages of approval, and was building power storage solutions.
New Delhi: The renewables unit of French utility EDF is on track to meet its objective of installing 200 megawatts (MW) of onshore wind power capacity this year after surpassing its 2017 target with 290 MW of projects completed.
EDF Energies Nouvelles has connected two wind farms with 100 MW of capacity, and has seven others with a total capacity of 120 MW to be completed by the end of the year, Nicolas Couderc, an executive of the unit, told journalists on Wednesday.
Couderc said the unit had a portfolio of around 1,000 MW of projects at various stages of approval, and was building power storage solutions.
The renewables subsidiary, which is driving EDF’s long-term ambition of developing 30 gigawatts (GW) of solar projects in nuclear-reliant France between 2020 and 2030, will speed up the installation of roof-top solar panels and systems for self-consumption, Couderc said.
The group intends to make distributed solar a key pillar of EDF’s solar plan, with an ambitious goal of 10 GW capacity installed by 2035 – including 9 GW for businesses and 1 GW for residential customers, he said.
