EESL installed 10 lakh smart meters in Bihar – EQ Mag Pro
New Delhi : Public sector Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has installed one million smart meters in Bihar under the National Program for Smart Meters.
NTPC, Power Finance Corporation, REC Ltd. under the Ministry of Power. and POWERGRID Corporation of India joint venture EESL gave this information in a statement on Monday.
EESL last year signed agreements with South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) and North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) to install 23.5 lakh smart prepaid meters in Bihar. The company expects to complete the project by February 2023.
According to the statement, the smart meter will bring about a paradigm shift in the energy scenario of the state. The objective of Smart Prepaid Meters is to optimize power consumption while enhancing the convenience of the consumers.
EESL said that with the installation of 10 lakh smart prepaid meters, Bihar is in a position to collect daily revenue of over Rs 3 crore. So far, the total revenue figure in Bihar due to smart meters has crossed Rs 1,000 crore.
These prepaid smart meters will improve the operation of distribution companies by improving electricity bill and revenue collection efficiency. This will bring down the operating and maintenance cost and improve service quality and provide the consumers with the option of rationalizing power expenditure.
