Electric scooter ready for roll out
Ahmedabad: Soon you will be able to whisk your way at tourist spots, college campuses and townships with the wind blowing on your face, facing the morning sun as you commute 25-30km on a single charge using an electric kick-start scooter.
The scooter is developed by a startup incubated by Gujarat University Startup and Entrepreneurship Council (GUSEC), was launched on Tuesday.
The vehicles are meant for rental-based electric transportation and Gujarat University shall be the first campus in South Asia to implement such technology, mentions a press statement by GUSEC.
The product, which was launched on Tuesday, will be made available for public at the upcoming ‘Happy Street’ initiative at Sabarmati Riverfront venue on Sunday, said Rutvij Dasadia, founder of Hello Skate Mobility.
Dasadia and his team are aiming to deploy at least 100 Booz Scooters by mid-2020.
“Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will be happy to partner with the startup to promote green mobility and would like to deploy some of these scooters at the Sabarmati Riverfront at the earliest,” said Vijay Nehra, commissioner, AMC.
The electric kick start scooter takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to fully charge and uses online technology for locking/unlocking and mapping the vehicle.
“At GUSEC, this is our goal to look at societal challenges and offer sustainable solutions to necessary stakeholders,” said Himanshu Pandya, vice-chancellor, Gujarat University, who was also present at the launch event in the city.
