Elon Musk says Tesla has ‘many exciting things’ to reveal on Battery Day
Tesla will reveal “exciting” news on Sept. 22, the automaker’s CEO Elon Musk declared on Twitter.
Musk on Friday gave an update about the company’s upcoming Battery Day event. The hyped-up ceremony will be held immediately following Tesla’s annual shareholder’s meeting later this month.
“Many exciting things will be unveiled on Battery Day 9/22,” Musk wrote in a tweet. The post included a lightning bolt Emoji.
Live video webcasts of both Battery Day and the company’s shareholder meeting will be accessible to the public. Both events have been delayed due to the pandemic.
It’s unclear what’s stirring at Tesla, though Musk tweeted in August that more powerful batteries that could boost EV range weren’t far away.
Responding to a Twitter thread about electric airplanes, Musk said batteries with 400-watt-hours per kilogram are likely to be mass-produced in the next three to four years. For reference, the battery used in Tesla’s Model 3 is around 260-watt-hours per kilogram, according to Reuters.
