Primary Job Functions
Experience:
Electrical engineering background, or
PV Background
Minimum 3 years experience in PV system and overall experience of 3 to 6 years
Education
College degree required, EE a plus!
NABCEP certification a plus
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Work with cross-functional team to analyze long term performance of our technology in expected deployment environments. Develop algorithms that use performance data to proactively identify potential system performance problems.
Deploy best known models and methods to energy prediction technology.
Develop methods to determine the statistical level of certainty around the quantity and quality of solar insulation at various project sites. This will include familiarity with short term and long term meteorological data sets and understanding industry accepted methods for interpolating data.
Produce and manage the production of energy estimates for project development sites and sensitivity analysis.
Develop advanced understanding of localized environmental influences via research, design of experiment, and data analysis. Document that understanding in customer-facing collateral.
Review power purchase agreement contract requirements associated with solar resource and power plant output; recommend changes or optimization opportunities as necessary to protect interests.
Support methods for verifying the capacity of installed farm systems and required customer reported performance metrics
Validate model prediction with measured field data.
Develop expertise in meteorological sensors and calibration. Develop and use analytical techniques to validate collected data.
Initiate and coordinate experiments to collect information on environmental loss factors in energy prediction models such as snow and soiling.
Represent First Solar in associated regulatory stakeholder processes as necessary.
Respond to Ad Hoc requests for data from other functions with either in house data analysis or a recommendation to management of appropriate contractor/academic study support. (For example: concerns around micro climate impacts or reflection impacts)

Ability to work comfortably in potentially remote field conditions and manage multiple tasks and projects
Available to support construction and commissioning teams
Technical
Strong background PV systems
Solid knowledge of statistics
Proven computer skills in a Windows environment, strong Excel and Word skills required.
SQL programming knowledge a plus
Ability to deal with various types testing and diagnostic equipment.
