Japanese government has identified 11 areas as potentially suitable for development in the first round, four of which were selected as promotion areas, which include the Noshiro and Yurihonjo projects.
TOKYO : Norway’s Equinor, Japan’s Jera and Electric Power Development Co (J-Power) have formed a consortium to jointly submit a bid for offshore wind power projects in Akita, northern Japan, the companies said on Wednesday.
Japan’s offshore power market is set to take off after the government last year brought in a law to encourage the development of wind farms, with the Japan Wind Power Association predicting the country’s offshore wind power installed capacity to grow to 10 gigawatts(GW) in 2030.
The consortium plans to bid for the project off Noshiro city, Mitane town and Oga city as well as projects off Yurihonjo city.
