Kolkata: Any commercial building of more than 20,000 sq ft ft floor area will now have to make provision for at least one charging point for electric vehicles.
Transport minister Firhad Hakim said the rule would be strictly enforced to encourage switch to e-mobility and create an eco-system for electric charging stations. He was speaking at the launch of Vision 2030, accelerating net-zero transition in the public transportation.
“It is necessary to focus on e mobility for a better future. It is also rewarding financially after the sharp rise in cost of diesel and petrol,” Hakim said.
