Everything revolves around 24 hours of sun
The motto at Fronius for 2016 is “24 hours of sun”. The solutions provider will kick-start the year with new products and a clear vision: a future where 100% of power is supplied by renewable energy is the focus of the 24 hours of sun movement. Our vision foresees the efficient and intelligent generation, storage, distribution and consumption of renewable energy.
Intelligent storage – Fronius Energy Package Powerwall
One of the highlights for the coming year is the Fronius Energy Package Powerwall1, which has been developed in close cooperation with Tesla Energy. This solution enables users to store photovoltaic electricity, which they have generated themselves, in the Tesla Powerwall. If only a little or no energy at all has been produced from the roof-mounted solar modules, the system owner can call on the stored electricity. “The storage solution from Fronius and Tesla Energy is particularly attractive for those who want to increase their rate of self-consumption. Being less vulnerable to rising energy costs with the help of a designer storage unit is a big draw for many people,” explains Martin Hackl, head of the Solar Energy division at Fronius.
The flexibility and efficiency of the storage solution are the keys to its success; the Tesla Powerwall can be mounted inside as well as out. The emergency power function of the Fronius Symo Hybrid Powerwall inverter can easily be upgraded at a later date with a software update. “Multi Flow Technology” is integrated as standard, allowing the energy flows to be intelligently controlled in parallel. In addition, this technology enables the Fronius Symo Hybrid Powerwall to be used for both AC-coupled and DC-coupled storage systems, ensuring maximum flexibility for various operating modes.WLAN and Ethernet are integrated in the three-phase system as standard and the Setup wizard makes configuration as easy as can be. The Fronius Energy Package Powerwall will be available from the third quarter of 2016 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It will then be rolled out to other European countries and Australia.
Intelligent distribution – Fronius Smart Meter 50kA-3
The Fronius Smart Meter 50kA-3 is a new addition to the Fronius Smart Meter product family. This version is suitable for measuring higher power levels in single and three-phase grids or for upgrading systems, if the existing current path is not to be disconnected. The Fronius Smart Meter is a bidirectional meter that optimises self-consumption and records the household’s load curve. Together with Fronius Solar.web, the Fronius Smart Meter presents a clear overview of power consumption within the home. With the Fronius storage solutions, the meter manages the various energy flows in a perfectly coordinated way, optimising the overall energy management.
Intelligent generation – Fronius Primo Hybrid
The single-phase Fronius Primo Hybrid inverter will be launched at the end of 2016. It will be available in single-phase markets in Europe, such as the UK and Italy, as well as in Australia and North America.
