Experts call for installation of solar panels in the city during smart city discussion
Energy management experts have called for the installation of solar panels in government institutions, bus waiting sheds and other constructions during a consultative meeting as part of smart city challenge organized by the city corporation. The technical experts said that recharging hubs should also be promoted in the city.
Street lighting should be powered by either wind energy or solar energy. Recharging vehicles shall be introduced for street vendors on rental basis, the officials opined.
An e-waste management unit shall be set up in the city. Energy park centre should be set up to create awareness among students regarding use of electricity. The meeting was inaugurated by Vanchiyur P Babu, chairman, town planning standing committee. Experts from KSEB, ANERT took part in the meeting.
