France awards 931 MW in onshore wind tender – EQ
France’s Ministry of Ecological Transition has allocated 931 MW of capacity under its latest onshore wind tender.
The ministry on Thursday announced that 54 projects were selected in the call at an average price of EUR 86.94 (USD 94.77) per MWh.
It highlighted this is the third fully subscribed tender this year after an onshore wind tender that awarded over 1 GW of projects and a photovoltaic tender with 1.5 GW of selected projects. The next onshore wind tender will open on December 4, again seeking 925 MW of capacity.
The list of winning projects is published on the site of the ministry.
France aims to lift the share of renewables in its power generation mix to 40% by 2030 and make renewables account for 33% of final energy consumption by the same year.
In 2022, the country had 21.2 GW of wind capacity, out of a total power generation fleet of 144.2 GW, where nuclear has the largest share, according to data from a report of the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE).
