Gamesa registers record installations of over 2 GW of wind power in India for the FY 2016-17
Strengthening its presence in India, Gamesa, the renewable energy leader in the country, today announced that it has commissioned 2050 MW of wind power for the financial year 2016 – 2017. Being the first ever wind company in India to have achieved this number in one year, Gamesa has doubled its efforts as compared to last year thus setting a new bench mark in the Indian wind Industry. Today the company has a total installed capacity of over 4800 MW across 7 states in India.

Gamesa India is confident of registering consistent growth in the Indian market. The company has projects across all the seven wind rich states of India and operates two nacelle manufacturing facilities near Chennai, Tamil Nadu and a blade manufacturing plant in Halol, Gujarat, An integrated manufacturing facility in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. The company has also invested in joint Venture for Tower manufacturing at Halol, Gujarat.
The merger between Gamesa and Siemens Wind Power became effective on 3rd April 2017. United, Siemens wind power and Gamesa create a leader in the wind power market with presence in more than 90 countries and have 75 GW of installed capacity worldwide

In recent years, India has emerged as one of the most promising wind power markets: new capacity is expected to increase in more than 30,000 MW from 2016 to 2025, driven by huge pent-up demand for electricity, according to sector consultancy MAKE’S estimates.
The new orders obtained by Gamesa in India reinforce its solid commercial positioning: according to MAKE, the company ended 2016 as the leading OEM in the country with a market share of 39% in 2016, compared to 34 % in 2015 & 25% in 2014, when it also was the market leader.
Gamesa’s presence in India – as technology provider and wind farm developer – dates back to 2009. To date, Gamesa has installed close to 4800 MW.
