Gamesa wins repeat orders for 170 MW from Hero Future Energies
Gamesa, the market leader in the wind energy space in India, has entered into a double agreement with Hero Future Energies, a leading Independent Power Producer (IPP) in India.
Under terms of the contracts, Gamesa will undertake supply, erection and commissioning of 60 units of G114 2.0MW T106 turbines for the 120 MW order at Kalyandurg, Andhra Pradesh and will deliver a complete turnkey solution for another 50MW order at Bableshwar Karnataka with the supply of 25 units of G114 2.0MW T106 turbines. The projects are scheduled for commissioning by March next year. These orders form part of the 460 MW consolidated orders announced for India vide our global press release.
The G114-2.0 MW is designed to yield more power at lower cost making it particularly suited to India’s wind conditions. With a rotor spanning 114 metres, the new turbine’s sweep area is 38% greater than that of the G97-2.0 MW. This turbine is part of Gamesa’s 2.0-2.5 MW platform whose credentials include 20 GW of installations in 35 countries.
Elaborating on the double win, Mr. Ramesh Kymal, Chairman and Managing Director, Gamesa India said, “We are happy to receive these repeat orders from Hero Future Energies, as it is a reaffirmation of our product and project management capabilities in the wind space. Wind energy is the fastest growing renewable energy sector in the country and India has moved into 4th place in the global cumulative installations ranking. With the policy and private sector thrust falling in place, wind energy will surely become a mainstream source of energy supply and will play a leading role in de-carbonisation.”
Commenting on the deal, Mr. Sunil Jain, Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director, Hero Future Energies (HFE), said, “Post successful completion of 100 MW self-development project at Dhar, MP, we have undertaken yet another self-development project in Kalyandurg, which is one of the biggest project in AP, by an individual IPP at a particular location. In its first phase of execution, we have partnered with a credible player like Gamesa. We are confident of Gamesa’s product line and delivery schedule.”
