Golam Mostafa Jibon: Global Economist Forum (GEF), a United Nations General Consultant Member Organisation under its Economic and Social Council, has vowed to assist in fund arrangement to establish the proposed Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Medical University along with 500 beds hospital and second phase of the Dhaka Metro Rail from Agargaon to Motijheel.

The organization has also expressed desire to sourcing fund for setting up a-500 MW green Solar Power Plant, which will play a vital role to meet the country’s energy shortage.

The GEF has already signed an agreement with the South African authorities to send 800,000 farmers with employment from Bangladesh to develop their agriculture.

Major General Dilawar Singh, Senior Vice President of Global Economist Forum (GEF) told this to the reporters on Monday, also at the end of 3-day official visit in Bangladesh.

He said, GEF is working hard to arrange necessary funds for different development projects of Bangladesh. Meanwhile, the organization leaders have got positive signals from different donors in this regard.

“We are very sincere to lend our helping hands in context of Bangladesh’s developments. Global leaders have also expressed solidarity with us as Bangladesh is now considered as appropriate place for expanding investment against social-economic developments,” Dilawar Singh added.

He also said, after implementation of the proposed projects including establishment of Begum Fazilatunnes Mujib Medical University along with 500 beds hospital, Second phase of Metro Rail and 500MW Solar Power Plant, GEF will try to keep contributions in other development projects for the sake of country’s people.

Dr Enayet Karim, President of the Global Economist Forum told The Daily Industry that, GEF has an aim to keep a greater contribution in the country’s economy targeting to boost trade and investment. To meet the country’s basic needs, GEF is eager to provide all types of logistic supports including financial and technological.

He also said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina according to her electoral pledges is working sincerely to develop the country and remove corruption from its all sectors. She has already kept a symbol by running recent purification expedition against corruptions and irregularities.”

“GEF highly appreciated her move and thanked her for keeping better contributions in the country’s development. To fulfill the Prime Minister’s dream and implement the vision 2030, the Global Economist Forum wants to work together to implement different potential development projects so that country’s people to be benefited,” he said.

Putting a special emphasis on education, health and industrialization, GEF has planned to take some development projects, which will help to empower the youths and future generation by providing proper health and educational services. Not only that, the organization is working to bring a revolution in the country’s agricultural sector particularly in the rural areas by using modern technology, Dr Karim added.
