In Short : Gentari, the clean energy arm of PETRONAS, is accelerating India’s green hydrogen push through strategic alliances. Partnering with AM Green and GIC, it aims to produce five million tonnes of green ammonia by 2030. Gentari will supply 650 MW of renewable energy for this initiative, while also expanding green mobility with 3,800 EVs and 280+ charging points nationwide.

In Detail : Gentari, the clean energy subsidiary of Malaysia’s PETRONAS, is playing a key role in advancing India’s green hydrogen ambitions. Through a series of strategic initiatives, the company is aligning itself with the country’s clean energy goals and making significant investments in the hydrogen and renewable sectors.

One of Gentari’s major moves includes partnering with India’s AM Green and Singapore’s GIC. Together, they aim to produce five million tonnes of green ammonia annually by 2030, equivalent to one million tonnes of green hydrogen. This would account for 20% of the National Green Hydrogen Mission’s target, highlighting the scale of the effort.

To power this massive production, Gentari has committed to supplying 650 MW of round-the-clock renewable energy. This power will support AM Green Ammonia’s upcoming facilities in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, under a long-term power purchase agreement. It ensures that the production process remains carbon-free and sustainable.

Gentari’s leadership has highlighted India’s advantages for green hydrogen development, including its abundant renewable resources, a well-integrated power grid, favorable policies, and a skilled workforce. Additionally, India’s geographic position between Europe and East Asia offers a strategic edge for green energy exports.

Beyond hydrogen, Gentari is also contributing to India’s decarbonization through its green mobility initiatives. The company has already deployed over 3,800 electric vehicles and established more than 280 EV charging points across the country, expanding clean transportation infrastructure.

Through these strategic efforts, Gentari is reinforcing its commitment to India’s energy transition. By integrating renewable power, green hydrogen, and mobility solutions, the company is helping to build a sustainable energy ecosystem while addressing the growing demand for clean energy both in India and globally.
