Ghana to get USD 300 mln power plant
Armech Africa Limited has signed an agreement with Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). Armech Africa limited works in the design and manufacturing industrial processes.
Armech group will pre-finance the power project through a Chinese multination bank. Commercial Bank of China. The government of Ghana will not provide any sovereign guarantee to the project.
The project will not only help in increasing renewable electricity and access to green energy that would reduce harmful pollutions, but it will also generate over 1,500 jobs.
The construction will be done by Energy China
According to the director of Armech Africa, Mr. Andrew Quainoo said that his outfit has signed a Waste Feedstock Agreement with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development. It has been done with six other municipal and metropolitan assemblies in the Greater Accra Region.
He said the impact of the plat construction would be in terms of enhancing environmental sustainability, limiting need if landfill sites and the improvement in the public health. With this, it will also produce the baseload renewable energy.
He emphasized that his company can convert, through incineration, 3,000 metric tonnes of waste into 60 megawatts of clean energy.
He believed that the project would represent the first water-to-energy project in Economic Community of West African States. He said that in Kumasi a new plant would come as per the future plans.
He also told that the firm is intending to invest in 15 specialized drain cleaning tricks. The worth of these products would be over one million dollars. The materials are transported as the extra feedstocks to the plant that has been collected from the drains.
