In Shorts : Godrej Electricals and Electronics has successfully commissioned a 25 MW ground-mounted solar power project in Maharashtra. This initiative aligns with the company’s focus on renewable energy and sustainability, contributing to India’s clean energy goals. The project is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions, promote green energy, and provide cleaner electricity to the region, reinforcing Godrej’s commitment to environmental responsibility and energy efficiency.
In Detail : Godrej Electricals and Electronics, a business unit of Godrej & Boyce, has commissioned a 25 MW AC ground mounted solar project. The plant will be located in Dhule, Maharashtra.
The project has been commissioned for the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (Mahagenco). The project will cover 52 acres of land and is expected to generate 45 million units of power annually.
Furthermore, custom-designed structures with varied heights and wind resistance capabilities were designed to ensure maximum efficiency from the project due to the challenges of undulated land and hard soil strata.
The plant will help in achieving Maharashtra’s renewable energy goals by supplying power to the open market. This project has increased Mahagenco’s total capacity to 428.02 MW.
In July 2024, Godrej Electricals and Electronics, commissioned a 12.5 MWp rooftop solar project for a textile facility in Madhya Pradesh. In May 2024, Godrej Electricals and Electronics received orders totaling more than Rs 20 billion from the power transmission, railway, and solar sectors.
