In Short : Greenzo Energy has launched a 1-MW green hydrogen alkaline electrolyser. This initiative signifies the company’s commitment to advancing green hydrogen production technology, contributing to the growth of sustainable and clean energy solutions.

In Detail : Sanand : Gujarat-based Greenzo Energy Pvt Ltd is set to deploy an indigenous electrolyzer in Oman to generate 400 units of electricity per hour for illuminating the airport using green hydrogen.

Valued at ₹130 crore, the 1-MW Alkaline electrolyzer will be part of a pilot project, producing green hydrogen integrated with fuel cells to power the airport during nighttime. The hydrogen, generated during the day through solar power, will be stored and converted back to electricity at night. This initiative is expected to partially meet the airport’s power requirements.

The electricity generated by the solar power system at the Oman airport will undergo a process in the electrolyzer, which contains water. This procedure will separate hydrogen from oxygen. The 18 kilograms of hydrogen produced per hour during daylight hours will undergo additional purification and be stored in tanks. During the night, the stored hydrogen will be transformed back into electricity using fuel cells and atmospheric oxygen.

The electrolyzer and fuel cells will be supplied by Greenzo Energy Pvt Ltd to Oman, with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel unveiling the electrolyzer on Thursday at a ceremony in Sanand. The indigenously-developed electrolyzer, capable of functioning continuously, can produce green hydrogen at a cost of ₹280 per kg when the supplied electricity costs ₹3 per unit. The company has accumulated orders worth ₹1,200 crore.
