GRS picked as EPC contractor for X-Elio’s 200-MW Australian solar project
December 3 (Renewables Now) : Spanish developer X-Elio has chosen compatriot GRS as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the 200-MW Blue Grass Solar Farm in Queensland, Australia.
With on-ground construction works expected to start in early 2021, the USD-200-million (EUR 164.7m) photovoltaic (PV) park is scheduled to enter operations late that same year, X-Elio said today.
Once up and running, Blue Grass will consist of 385,000 modules and be able to produce around 420 GWh of clean power annually, enough to meet the demand of 80,000 local homes and avoid 320,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year.
The PV plant has a ten-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with software company Salesforce.com Inc (NYSE:CRM), signed in October. The output will be fed into the transmission network operated by Powerlink, which will also deliver the new grid connection assets associated with the plant, X-Elio noted.
