Gujarat planning new EV policy, aims at 1 lakh EVs on road by 2022: Report

In a bid to push the green cars in the state Gujarat government is reportedly planning to come out with a policy soon announcing huge incentives for using electric vehicles (EVs). The policy is expected to charge up its clean-energy push.
With the new policy for electric vehicles the state government aims to have one lakh electric vehicles on road by 2022.
Top officials said the government is earmarking Rs 798 crore in subsidies and tax waivers to promote use of electric vehicles (EVs) reports ET.
“The policy will cover two-wheelers and commercial vehicles,”said an official speaking to the publication. The official added “Deliberations are under way on whether to include privately owned cars or not.”
