Hanwha Q CELLS modules power 500kW C&I solar system on roof of aluminium extrusion company Pasturi SRL in Italy
A 500 kW solar system powers the production of high precision aluminium parts on the factory roof of Pasturi Srl in Lombardy, Italy. Hanwha Q CELLS GmbH, German subsidiary of the world´s largest producer of high performance solar cells, Hanwha Q CELLS Co., Ltd. (NASDAQ: HQCL), provided more than 8.000 Q CELLS branded high performance and high quality solar modules. The rooftop installation was constructed by SKY NRG SRL, a company experienced in realizing PV systems for different applications in Italy. The system unfolds over a rooftop area of over 10,000 square meters and is expected to produce around 600.000 kWh of clean electricity per year. The energy will be used exclusively to power Pasturi´s production facility for aluminium extrusion profiles.
Solar does pay-off in Italy – even without any FIT
For commercial and industrial companies in Italy, it is economically attractive to use solar systems for self-consumption of the clean electricity to power their production facilities, enable cooling or other energy intensive activities. That way, the companies can largely disconnect from rising energy prices and substantially save on electricity cost in the long run. Additionally, a solar system improves the eco-balance and sustainability of the business. The 500 kWp installation in Lombardy is a strong evidence for that: Given the current average energy prices for companies in Italy of 0,15 €/kWh, the system is expected to amortize in only 5 years and after that realize energy cost savings of around 90.000 € per year with an upward potential due to the likely rise in electricity prices. One decisive factor to actually realize this potential in the future is to use high performance and high quality solar modules for the system, which are able to deliver high energy yields not only in the beginning, but also in the later stages of the systems operation. That´s why Pasturi and SKY NRG chose the “Engineered in Germany” modules from Q CELLS.
