Vijayawada: The high court on Friday issued notices to the state government in the contempt petitions filed by solar power producers having power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the government. The companies moved the contempt petitions alleging that the government did not pay them dues in accordance with the court’s order.
The high court had earlier set aside the state government’s proposal to renegotiate power tariff, and directed to pay all outstanding dues within six weeks as agreed in the PPAs. Considering the arguments on behalf of the solar power producing companies, the bench headed by Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice Ninala Jayasurya issued notices to the state government, directing to file counter affidavits. Further hearing of the matter has been posted to August 8.
