Himachal: CM Sukhu launches e-Taxi scheme portal, says govt committed to making HP a green state – EQ

In Detail : Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu officially launched the e-taxi scheme, signaling the government’s commitment to fostering environmental sustainability in the state. Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized that the initiative is a proactive step towards realizing the vision of transforming Himachal Pradesh into an environmentally conscious and eco-friendly region. The introduction of e-taxis aligns with the broader goal of reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly transportation methods in Himachal Pradesh, contributing to the state’s overall green agenda.
Under the Rajiv Gandhi Employment Startup Scheme, the Himachal Pradesh government has initiated this program. “The unemployed will be given the opportunity of self-employment through the scheme. Congress had given 10 guarantees before coming to power, out of which a startup scheme of Rs 680 crores was also included for the unemployed, moving forward in this direction, the government has today launched the e-taxi scheme,” CM Sukhu said.
“Through this medium, electric taxi permits will be issued to the unemployed at 50 percent subsidy and taxi services will be available in government departments so that the unemployed can take advantage of it and the youth can also contribute to making the climate of Himachal Pradesh pollution free,” he added.
He added that individuals without employment can also avail themselves of the scheme’s benefits by applying online through the Transport Department’s website.
Sukhu mentioned that the government will assist in the installation of e-charging stations, with plans to set up these stations at 17 locations across the state.
“Himachal is on its way to becoming a green state, the government will bring a plan for solar energy in the second phase and the agriculture sector in the third phase,” he said. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu accused the preceding BJP government in the state of endorsing illegal mining.
“The mining scam happened during the time of previous government, the government will investigate the mining scam that happened during the time of previous government, 131 stone crushers in Beas River Basin 63 were running without permission, scam of worth crores of rupees happened, the government suffered loss. The government will investigate the crushers installed in all the River Basin,” he said.
