Hindustan Power Project Ltd (HPPL) subsidiaries Bhanu Energy Infrastructure and Power LtdBSE 0.00 % & Bhanu Energy Industrial Development Ltd have set up the country’s largest single-location solar power plant of 31.5 MW at Mirpur Lalan village in Mansa district of Punjab.

“HPPL is also set to commission another 50 MW project in Punjab in December this year,” an executive of HPPL told ET, adding that the Mansa project was commissioned in May this year.

The plant, built with an investment of Rs 200 crore, will be dedicated to the state by the deputy chief minister, Sukhbir Singh Badal, on September 29, Punjab’s New & Renewable Energy Minister Bikram Singh Majithia said on Monday.

Majithia said the state is on the path of becoming the country’s leading solar power producer. In a span of three-four years and an investment of Rs 8,000 crore, solar power generation in the state has touched 1,080 mw from just 9 mw at the beginning of the period. “Punjab has set up a target of producing 4,200 mw of green and clean energy with the investment of Rs 30,000 crore by or before 2022,” said Majithia.
