GPS Renewables won the award for Best Waste Wealth Creators. The company’s CEO Mainak Chakraborty collected the award for the company.

GPS Renewables has won the award for processing all kinds of bio-waste to produce bio-CNG, solving the urban organic waste management problem in an environmentally clean way while also making economic sense.

Their GPS Biourja system is currently being sold in India, Bangladesh, Japan, USA and Malaysia.

“The biggest problem the country currently faces is waste management. We found that India doesn’t have the technologies to deal with waste management. That’s how we decided to start GPS Renewables,” said Mainak.

With a clientele which includes prominent names like Akshaya Patra Foundation, Infosys, Manipal University, BITS Pilani, and TVS, GPS Renewables’s Biourja system has been adopted across customer segments as a reliable solution for waste management as well as cooking fuel replacement.

It can also be used with a gas engine for power generation. Its pre-fabricated system is extremely compact, utilises minimal space and can co-exist in any urban location. Its commercial viability efficiency is two times faster and twice as efficient as any other bio-CNG system.

“We produced 25 lakh kg LPG from wet waste,” Mainak said.

He said that his company is also working towards ensuring airports and railway stations run on biodegradable energy. He said that solving the problem of waste disposal is not possible for only one company and thus many stakeholders need to work together to solve this problem.
