The company is also the winner of the ‘Solar Tracker Project of the Year’ award. Satish Velu, Business Development Manager, Larsen & Toubro, accepted the award and expressed his gratitude for the honour.
He said it is important to recognize the efforts taken by various companies and individuals to make this market more sustainable.
“L&T has always tried to be at the forefront of innovation and then take pioneering steps to promote new technologies. There will be more projects coming up in the future.
L&T is equipped with expertise and knowledge of this market,” he said. The company won the Solar Floating Project Award of the Year for its 4 MW Floating Solar Project in Andhra Pradesh.
The project is the first MW scale Floating solar project in India that L&T executed by overcoming many challenges inherent to floating by following stringent safety standards. They used boats, lifejackets, trained swimmers, divers for execution etc.
Floating projects are crucial to the Renewable Energy market of India due to a lot of issues in acquiring land for garden mounted projects. Further, floating solar helps reduce water evaporation.
The company has created Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) to ease the Operation and Management (O&M) activities.
