The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has developed a solar hybrid electric car and successfully tested it on an uphill drive.
The solar car has been designed using in-house resources at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Thiruvanathanapuram, the facility centre for making various types of rockets like the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle and the Reusable Launch Vehicle.
The car runs on high-energy lithium ion batteries. After the successful test, ISRO is now looking to bring down the car’s cost.
“An ideal transportation system should envisage zero emission without any pollution,” ISRO stated.
