Japanese Solar Power Station to Go on Sale on Yahoo Auction Site
A solar power station will be put up for auction in Japan on an Internet site hosted by Yahoo Japan Corp. The 500-kilowatt plant, owned by West Energy Solution Inc., is under construction in Hiroshima prefecture and will start to operate in November, Kenji Araki, a spokesman for West Holdings Corp., which owns West Energy, said by phone Wednesday.
“This is the first time in Japan that a solar power plant will be offered in an Internet auction,” West Holdings and Yahoo Japan said in a statement Wednesday. The companies plan to hold similar auctions regularly, according to the statement.The auction will be held on Yahoo Japan’s members-only site with selected bidders between Feb. 12 and 19 with a starting price of 161 million yen ($1.3 million), according to the statement.
