Japanese real estate and renewables investor Ichigo Inc (TYO:2337) said that today marked the start of operation of its first ever wind farm.

Before the 7.39-MW wind farm, named Ichigo Yonezawa Itaya ECO Power Plant, Ichigo has built 51 solar farms.

The company funded the project through a green loan of up to JPY 3 billion (USD 28.1m/EUR 23.3m) granted by Shinsei Bank Ltd (TYO:8303)

The maiden wind farm is located in Yonezawa City, near the border of Yamagata and Fukushima prefectures. It consists of four Hitachi wind turbines of 1.85 MW each.

Ichigo expects the wind farm to generate 27,391 MWh per year.

As of March, Ichigo operates 157.41 MW of installed capacity across 52 plants. With projects in development, the portfolio capacity is at 199 MW between 67 plants.
