The historic Khalsa college in Amritsar inaugurated a 775 kilowatt solar energy plant on its campus on August 18 in a bid to switch to green energy.
Solar panels have been installed in all the colleges, schools and other buildings on the Khalsa college campus, including hostels and canteens, to minimize their dependence on thermal and hydro-based electricity, Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) President Satyajit Singh Majithia told PTI.
Majithia inaugurated the plant in the presence of Honourary Secretary RMS Chhina and Sanjeev Aggarwal, MD and CEO of Amplus, the company which has installed the project.

OTHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTES USING SOLAR ENERGY
Sri Aurobindo International Centre for Education in Puducherry has became the first fully solar-powered educational institute in India.
According to newspaper reports, the institute generates thrice the electricity it consumes through solar power plants installed on the roofs of the dining room, primary school, library and high school in the campus.
From ensuring basic technology literacy to providing hands-on experiences via contextual learning, the Canadian International School, Bangalore, also runs on 100 per cent on solar energy.
