CHANDIGARH : Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher inaugurated the 400 kWp SPV power plant at Government Medical College and Hospital Sector-32, Chandigarh, on Friday. Adviser to the Chandigarh administrator Manoj Parida, and other senior officers of the Chandigarh administration were also present on the occasion.
This plant has been installed on the rooftop of Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32 (Block A, B, C & D) with a total cost of Rs 1.99 crore and executed by CREST (Chandigarh Renewable Science & Technology Promotion Society). This plant will generate approximately 5,20,000 units of electricity annually.
Kirron Kher appreciated the efforts taken by UT administration in developing Chandigarh as Model Solar City. She appreciated the lead taken by CREST in installing 32 MWp solar rooftop plants on government buildings as well as private buildings including residential houses.
The installation of new solar power plant will reduce electricity bill of GMCH-32 by approximately Rs 36 lakh annually.
