Krishna district ahead in using solar pump sets
District Collector B Lakshmi Kantam said Krishna district is ahead of other districts in using solar pump sets.
He inspected 50 KW rooftop solar power plant at Vidyut Sowdha here on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector informed that as many as 1,313 solar pump sets were issued to agriculture sector.
The Collector said that the administration would take measures to utilise solar power in the government and private offices, industries and educational institutions in the district.
The solar power plant at Vidyut Soudha was set up with an expenditure of Rs 45.5 lakh was generating 200 units of power every day, he said.
Lakshmi Kantam expressed concern over diminishing natural resources like coal, gas and water because of power production using these resources.
He made it clear that the district administration would measures for the use of solar power at tahsil offices, offices of MPDOs, Collectorate, and government departments.
He called upon the officials to create awareness among the people on the benefits of solar power.AP Transco Director Subrahmanyam and other officials were present.
