Madhya Pradesh: 1500 megawatt plants in 3 districts to start by Sept – EQ Mag
Indore: With Malwa-Nimar region in focus, electricity department has sped up installation of as many as five solar plants in Neemuch, Shajapur and Agar to generate around 1500-kilowatt solar power.
According to the principal secretary Sanjay Dubey, installation of three solar power units of total 450-megawatt capacity in Neemuch is in full swing and so is in Agar district for installation of two units of total 550-megawatt capacity.
On Saturday, Dubey took an inspection at two sites in Shajapur district, where solar panels are being installed. He instructed the officials concerned to complete the ongoing works in the set time limit.
Eying to meet 50% power demand of Madhya Pradesh through renewable energy, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan in November 2021 had laid foundation stones for setting up three solar power plants of 1500-megawatt capacity in Shajapur, Agar and Neemuch at a cost of Rs 5250 crores.
He had set a deadline of March 2023 to start generating power from two units of 550 MW (350+200) in Agar, three units of 450 MW (105+220+125) in Shajapur and as many units of 500 MW capacity (170+160+170 MW) in Neemuch district.
According to senior officials concerned, a delay in acquiring around 7,500 acres of land by resolving all the hurdles/objections, setting up the transaction network at part of the central government and completing remaining formalities including bank guarantees led to a few months delay.
“We are expected to start the production in all three districts by September, this year” Dubey said.
