This expansion includes several large-scale projects, with solar energy contributing 4,186 MW and wind energy adding 3,646 MW. The state is aggressively pursuing renewable energy to meet growing power demands while reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
A key milestone in this transition was the Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Park, which achieved record-low tariffs, making solar power more affordable than thermal energy. Building on this success, the upcoming Morena Solar Park will incorporate energy storage solutions, ensuring a reliable power supply even during non-solar hours. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has set an ambitious goal for the state to generate 50% of its power needs from solar energy by 2030. To accelerate this vision, he inaugurated two major solar projects in December 2024—a 550 MW facility in Agar-Malwa and a 330 MW plant in Neemuch—adding a combined 880 MW to the state’s renewable energy capacity.
