Under this platform, charging is free of cost till the month of October.

New Delhi: Renewable energy solution provider Magenta Power is all set to launch its Chargein platform with the inauguration of its second charging station on Mumbai-Pune expressway on 13th August that will enable electric vehicle (EV) users to take long intercity routes via highway.

Under this platform, the company is installing a series of interconnected EV charging stations for two, three and four wheelers vehicles and buses.

“Under Chargein platform, we are planning to install 5 EV charging stations on the Mumbai-Pune highway, each at a distance of 60 km. The charging station at Mumbai end is already operational. The one at Lonavala will go live on 13th August. Sequentially in the coming months we are going to bring the remaining charging stations on the network,” Maxson Lewis, CEO Magenta Power told ETAuto.

He further said that out of these 5 charging stations, the company is positioning three of them to be solar powered.

Commenting on the investment involved, he said that for this project the company is not investing on real estate, which holds the major chunk, rather inviting participants to join in. “We are investing on hardware, branding and network in terms of power and telecommunications which will cost around Rs 30 to 40 lakhs” he added.

He claims that any type of EV users can take advantage of this platform as all of the charging stations under Chargein platform are standardised and come with both AC and DC charging methods. They also have 3-pin sockets for both residential and industrial applications.

When asked about expansion plans, he said that besides Maharashtra the company is doing projects in Gujarat, Karnataka and Goa and aims to set up 100 charging stations across India by the end of this fiscal. Elaborating more on Chargein platform expansion he said “After the covering the Mumbai-Pune stretch, we are aiming for Pune-Bengaluru and Bengaluru-Mysore highway. We are also looking at Andhra Pradesh and Talangana regions.”

The charging is free of cost from the stations of this platform till the month of October this year. He also highlighted his plan to announce the Chargein platform technology to be open source in the same month.
